MAI Journal has released a powerful new Special Issue titled “Caring for Earth Mother: Indigenous-Led Pathways to Climate Adaptation”, this is available online and is open access.

This issue, published June 2025, brings together Indigenous scholars from Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond, offering critical insights into how Indigenous knowledge systems can guide global responses to the climate crisis. From advocating for land rights and climate justice to highlighting the roles of elders, communities, and enterprises in sustainable futures, the issue calls for climate policies that honour and empower Indigenous leadership.

The collection emphasises the urgent need for partnerships between Indigenous communities and institutions, and the value of traditional knowledge in shaping adaptive and just climate solutions.
